Privacy Policy
Last updated: 31 October 2026
This policy explains what personal information MazArt Academy collects, why, who it's shared with and what your rights are. We keep it to what we need to run your membership, and we never sell your information.
1. Who we are
MazArt Academy is a trading name of MazArt Studio Limited (company number 10496630, registered in England and Wales), 17 Lawton Road, Alsager, Stoke-on-Trent ST7 2AA. We're the "controller" of your personal information under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). If you have any questions, email marion@mazartacademy.com.
2. What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, password (stored securely by our platform, we never see it), profile picture and display name if you add them.
- Payment details: your billing name, address and payment method are handled by Stripe. We see your payment history and the last four digits of your card, never your full card number.
- Postal address: only if you graduate from the Foundation Course, so we can post your signed certificate.
- Your activity: which lessons you've watched and your progress, so the site can show you where you got to.
- What you share: comments, questions, and photos of your artwork that you submit or post.
- Live classes: if you join a live class with your camera or microphone on, your image, voice and display name may appear in the recording.
- Emails: whether you open our emails and click links, so we can see what's useful.
- Technical information: such as your device, browser and IP address, collected automatically when you use the site, mostly for security and to keep things working.
3. Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To run your membership: give you access, take payments, send account and payment emails, answer your questions and post certificates. (Needed for our contract with you.)
- To send you news, new lessons and offers by email. (Your consent, or our legitimate interest in emailing members about the Academy. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.)
- To improve the Academy, keep it secure and stop misuse such as shared logins. (Our legitimate interests.)
- To measure how our website is used and how our adverts perform. (Your consent, given through the cookie banner on our website.)
- To keep financial and tax records. (Legal obligation.)
- To share your artwork outside the Academy (for example on YouTube, social media or emails). (Only with your permission.)
4. Who we share it with
We only share your information with the companies that help us run the Academy, and only what they need:
- Membership.io: hosts the members' area and app.
- Stripe: takes payments.
- Wix: hosts our main website and sales page.
- Mailchimp: sends our newsletters and emails.
- Brevo: delivers our account emails, such as welcome emails, login links and password resets.
- Zoom: runs live classes.
- Zapier: connects these tools together.
- QuickBooks: for our accounts and VAT.
- Cloudflare: secures and routes traffic to our website.
- Google Analytics: shows us how our main website is used (for example, which pages are visited), using cookies, on our main website only and only if you agree to them.
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram): the Meta Pixel helps us measure our adverts and show them to people likely to be interested, using cookies, on our main website only and only if you agree to them.
We may also share information with our accountant or advisers, or if the law requires it.
5. Information sent outside the UK
Some of these companies are based in, or store data in, the United States or elsewhere. Where that happens, the transfer is protected by safeguards approved under UK law, such as the UK-US Data Bridge or standard contractual clauses.
6. How long we keep it
- While you're a member, we keep your account details.
- After you cancel, we keep your account for up to 2 years in case you come back, then delete it unless you ask us to delete it sooner.
- Payment and invoice records are kept for 6 years, as tax law requires.
- Email marketing details are kept until you unsubscribe.
- Postal addresses for certificates are deleted once the certificate has been sent.
- Recordings of informal live sessions (such as Tuesday Chinwag) are deleted afterwards. Teaching class replays stay in the library.
7. Your rights
You have the right to:
- see a copy of the information we hold about you
- ask us to correct anything that's wrong
- ask us to delete your information
- object to, or ask us to limit, how we use it
- ask for your information in a format you can take elsewhere
- withdraw consent at any time (for example, unsubscribing from emails or asking us to remove your artwork)
To use any of these rights, email marion@mazartacademy.com. We'll reply within one month.
8. Cookies
Our members' area uses only essential cookies, which keep you logged in and remember your settings. Our main website may also use Google Analytics cookies, to understand how the site is used, and Meta Pixel cookies, to measure our adverts, but only if you agree to them through the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time, and you can also control cookies through your browser settings.
9. Keeping your information safe
We use trusted platforms with strong security, and we only access your information when we need to run your membership.
10. Children
The Academy is for adults aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect information about children.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make important changes, we'll let you know.
12. Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please talk to us first at marion@mazartacademy.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
